1968 - Paul McCartney invited some fans into the recording studio to contribute vocal harmonies when The Beatles recorded “Across the Universe” at Abbey Road.

1977 - Fleetwood Mac released their classic Rumours. The album grabbed the No. 1 spot on the charts for a whopping 31 weeks. Over 17 million copies have been sold in the US alone.

1983 - Karen Carpenter died at the age of 31 from cardiac arrest while at her parents’ house in Downey, California. Carpenter’s ailment was caused by anorexia nervosa.

2001 - After verbally abusing a referee, Jimmy Buffett was thrown out of a New York Knicks – Miami Heat basketball game.
