(MIAMI) -- An elderly Florida cleric has been convicted of supporting the Pakistani Taliban.
When Hafiz Khan, an imam at a Miami mosque, sent $50,000 to Pakistan he said it was to help a school, the poor and his extended family. But federal prosecutors said the money helped arm Taliban militants.
In conversations between Khan and an FBI informant the imam is heard wishing Americans pursuing Osama bin Laden would die and praising the attempted 2010 Times Square car bombing.
The jury found him guilty of four counts that could put the 77-year-old cleric in prison for the rest of his life.
