(NEW YORK) -- Sofia Vergara and her fiancee Nick Loeb are trying to have a baby using a close friend of the Modern Family star as surrogate, the New York Post is reporting.

The couple will reportedly find out next week if all three of them are expecting. "The child will be biologically Sofia and Nick’s baby, and she has selected...a very close girlfriend -- to carry the baby," a source tells Page Six.

The actress has "long hoped for" a sibling for her 21-year-old son Manolo, but the paper says her career had pushed that aside.

On that note, Vergara can soon be seen on a poster for the upcoming sequel Machete Kills, sporting a metal bra packing firing six-barrel mini-guns for "nipples." The madcap Robert Rodriguez action flick -- which also stars Charlie Sheen as the president of the United States and Lady Gaga as an assassin -- opens July 31.
