1957 - Elvis Presley’s film, Jailhouse Rock, premiered.

1958 - Buddy Holly and the Crickets recorded "True Love Ways," "Moondreams," "It Doesn't Matter Anymore," and "Raining in my Heart" for his last studio session. 

1961 - Bob Dylan recorded his first album, a self-titled effort. The songwriting legend was just 20 years old, and production costs were $400.

1965 - The Dave Clark Five and the Kingsmen both appeared on the television show "Shindig!"

1966 - The Who performed on Britain's "Ready Steady Go!"

1971 - Mick and Bianca Jagger welcomed a daughter, Jade, in Paris.

1975 - Elton John was honored with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

1992 - Elton John filed a $35 Million suit against a “Hard Copy” reporter, on the grounds that he falsely stated that John moved to Atlanta to be close to an AIDS treatment center.

1995 - Blind Melon singer Shannon Hoon died at the age of 28 of a cocaine overdose.

1998 - Alice Cooper sued Paul Stanley and Bruce Kulick of KISS, claiming their song "Dreamin'" sounded too similar to his hit "Eighteen."
