1977 - Lynyrd Skynyrds Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and road manager Dean Kilpatrick were killed when their plane crashed in Gillsburg, Mississippi.
1978 - The Police performed for the first time in the U.S., playing a concert in New York.
